Do any equipment savy forum members have any views on the Nikon Nikkor 28-200mm f/3.5 - 5.6D IF AF Zoom lens positive, negitive or otherwise? Target camera will be my D70. Thanks in advance.On 1.5x sensor, the 28mm becomes 42mm 35mm-camera equivalent. That's definitely not wide enough. To me, attaching a wide-range and large lens to my camera, and carrying it in hiking, rain forest, desert, etc is not preferred unless you packed inside the backpack and take it out only when taking pictures. Then I would prefer two lenses, something of 18-35mm, and 70-200mm. That's was my Nikon days for 25+ years prior to changing over to canon one month ago.

Once your passport date is expired, it is considered a new passport issue. You would have to pay the $40 fee plus $15 for mailing. See instructions here

On MM DD, YYYY, we received this application and mailed you a document describing how we process it. But you do not need to bother. Our system is so screwed up that we did not know how many cases we had pending. We did not communicate with DOL and DOS properly; so we ended up causing the July Visa Bulletin fiasco, which actually screws up your case even more if you were not one of the lucky applicants to have actually obtained your GC. But your increased fees for EAD & AP renewals have afforded us new janitors, so we will try to keep your files dust free.
P.S : If you are an advanced degree holder born in India. Hahahaha.

I am a lil bit confused here. If there is a job that requires little or NO EXPERIENCE, would it be hard to find a US Citizen?
May or may not be.
That is the reason that PERM labor certification requires employer to provide proof that enough advertizing was done and no US citizen was qualified AND willing to accept the job, before deciding to go for an Alien.

Finished FP this morning. Got LUD on 485 45 mins after FP completion. Status language changed from
"The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you...blah..blah..blah"
to
"On October 9, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our LINCOLN, NE location for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case...blah..blah..blah"
Then got second LUD this evening with a 11/28 date on it, even though it was still 11/27, even on East coast. No change in mesg.
Any thoughts???

to be fair to USCIS they did try to get out of the fiasco on july 1 by moving the dates back again Eventually they were forced to accept it again..
They clearly knew this was cash cow so why did they want to cancel it in the first place..
Its a lot of money and its definitely a lot of work as well..There are also no signs of hiring new stafff..most of extra cash they getting is being pumped into other gov projects so the staff is still being overworked and I am sure will be complaning

To celebrate or not to celebrate is the question. I received this email from my attorney's office:
Congratulations! You and your wife are now Legal Permanent Residents of the United States! It has been confirmed this afternoon your I-485 applications were approved this week and your green cards have been ordered.
However, my online status did not change. My question is : Has USCIS stopped updating online status ? or Is this a mistake on my attorney's side ?
Can I do anything in the next 3 days to confirm what happened to my case ? Suggestions appreciated.
It is going to be a long long long weekend for us.

Hi,
My employer "ABC" (Consultancy) based in Ohio made me sign a Cognovit Promissory Note for 'X' amount ( where 'X' is a pretty large amount) on my arrival to US on H1-B visa earlier this year. I've been associated with him for less than an year now.
Question:
Does this note have any significance according to US law, esp. Ohio?
If I plan to move from this consultancy, can this note be held as a Legal Document and any legal action taken against me based on this note?
What is my way out of this?
I would be highly obliged if anyone can provide any help on this matter.

First thing you can do is to get good education equivalent certificate from reputed company(like Trustforte). If your labor has stated that combination of degree is accepted then make sure that you write same wording in your edu equivalent certificate. Try to understand this that going to Appeal/AAO office is taking forever to response back (AS OF NOW THERE IS 26 MONTHS OF DELAY TO PROCESS I-140 THOUGH APPEAL PROCESS). How do I know about 26 months cause I got a letter from USCIS Washington DC office(through my Senetor) when I request Senetor's help in getting my I-140 approve from AAO office. So make sure that you prepare your document correctly before sending it to AAO/USCIS office. Foremost thing if your document has gone to AAO office then keep patience. After reading so many decisions from AAO office on I-140 appeal I understood that they will look into your case on de nuvo basis. Meaning AAO office will look at your all document that you sent from start to end to make sure that your appealed decision can be taken correctly. If you have enough time with you then I will recommend you to go through this AAO decisions. Then in a month time immediatly I got my I140 denied, So after that my attorney appealed with I290 form, Still got rejected in 3 months then again my attorney re-appealed to it by adding some more information to it. So now the status is showing as Initial review with AAO.

I will take an Infopass. Did you get a new Card or they just corrected in their system?
My lawyer advised me to take an infopass to correct the name of my dependent on the EAD card. Instead of "e", they placed "a" and he said that I might as well have the name on the FP notice and I-485 corrected.

There are two pointless threads on this site, one is titled "The yanks are coming" and another as "US political system is broken". They both contain long rants of a single user. I seriously doubt if anybody ever reads them, as is evident from the absence of any other user's reply to these threads. Why don't we just remove them, or block them from showing up on the main page. At least it will free up space for more useful threads.

USCIS just went through the laborous task of processing more than 1 million applications for 485, ead, ap combined and also sending out FP notices and guess what, come Feb-march most of us will be ready to reapply for EAD and AP and USCIS has to go through the same process and this is likely to continue for next 4-5 years atleast..All USCIS wil be doing is processing EADs and AP..
Don't you guys think USCIS must be seriuosly thinking of a solution to clear this mess once and for all
Options
1) Give 3 yr ead and AP
2) As a one time thing make priority dates of all july applications only current :) (highly unlikely)
The EAD/AP renewal business is a cash cow for USCIS, and they will not do anything to jeorpardize that.;)
Result - status quo :p
Don't you guys think USCIS must be seriuosly thinking of a solution to clear this mess once and for all

I am an July 2007 485 filer and did the biometrics within couple of months after that. Last year applied EAD and AP by paper filing so there was no biometrics.
May be its my wild hope... still..
If by any magic the processing dates moved by Oct. 2009 and I am current(:) I know its very little chance), as I am planning to apply my AP renewals now, is it good to do e-filing since it will trigger to do the biometrics also and there won't be any delay in the form of RFE's in regards to fingerprinting expiry or so?

I e-filed both EAD and AP this year and I got both approvals without going for biometrics. This was my first e-filing and all my previous applications were paper based. I only went for biometrics 1 time in Oct 2007. TSC used the photo and FPs from my biometrics appointment for my EAD as I did not mail them any photos. So its not necessary that you will be called for finger printing when you e-file. If they have your photo and FPs digitally stored, they will use them. I assume they would do the same if your PD becomes current.
